Giuseppe Cannella had a big surprise for his mother-in-law when he put a jet engine on the back of her wheelchair.
Mr Cannella says the chair can now do top speeds of more than 60mph and has proved the star of a model plane championship during the Bank Holiday."

[...] SecurityFocus took the site for a test drive, and found it worked as advertised. The user fills out a simple Web form with his phone number, the number he wants to call, and the number he wants to appear to be calling from. Within two seconds, the system rings back, and patches the user through to the destination. The recipient sees only the spoofed number displayed on Caller ID. Any number works, from nonsense phone numbers like '123 4567' to the number for the White House switchboard.' "

Professor William Bonfield in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy has been awarded the Prince Phillip medal by the Royal Academy of Engineering for his pioneering work in the development and use of artificial bone. The award recognizes his work to produce synthetic bone material for joint replacement and other medical applications. Congratulations uncle Bill!
