The Simple Threat to Google

If Yahoo Search Marketing, no... When Yahoo Search Marketing get's their *stuff* together with their backend, fixing that horrible, legacy-system-tied-together-with-bubble-gum interface that makes placing campaigns there SOOOOOO difficult, Google should see a big revenue dip. Why?

Simple...

Time after time we read reports of "how savvy", "how smart" and "how young" Google’s core users are. Great. Thanks. I am one of their enlightened masses. I freakin’ love Google. They are my Rock Stars, Pin-up Crush Poster, Fantasy Company…

BUT, most advertisers don't want to reach me online.

Demographically, I look GREAT. However,

I know how to comparison shop.
I know how to find merchant ratings from other buyers.
I know how to find free shipping and other "coupon" codes and special offers.
I know how to grind the hell out of an online purchase in a way many Middle America online shoppers/don't/won't/or can't.

There may not be a lot of margin selling to me. My "not that interested in the technology behind the web" wife is a far better target. Not that I am smarter, I am certainly not (CYA Jim) but she just wants to find “it” and buy “it.”

Look at who uses Yahoo and MSN compared to Google.

You can reach MORE users with Google. What about conversion? What indeed.

Yahoo!, fix your stuff. Please.
